About Me

I am an Aviston, IL native (about 35 miles east of Edwardsville) who transplanted into the Glen Carbon community during my college years and fell in love with everything this community has to offer. I initially graduated from SIUE with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications – Public Relations and worked for a nonprofit sports marketing firm and the American Red Cross prior to making the decision to return to school for teaching. I acquired my Master in the Art of Teaching – Secondary Education degree and have been teaching at Edwardsville High School since.

Additionally, I completed my second master's degree through the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion [formerly Learning, Culture, and Society] program at SIUE. This year will be my 13th year with Edwardsville High School. I absolutely LOVE teaching and I get excited every single year to meet my new group of students.

As a teacher, I like to apply the content we learn in class to everyday life situations. I strive to keep my classes fresh and exciting and incorporate a variety of lessons to keep the interest of my students. I LOVE deep and extensive conversations about topics that affect us all and having a respectful classroom for my students is my priority. I hope that my students will someday think back about my class and appreciate what it had to offer.

In addition to teaching English, I am also the proud sponsor of the EHS Interact Club, which is a Rotary sponsored club focusing on serving the community and world. I am also the co-sponsor of the Tiger Talk Podcasting Network with Mr. Dave Lipe. The Tiger Talk Podcast Network publishes The Jungle, the official sports podcast of Edwardsville High School and Tiger Spotlight, highlighting stories from our Tiger community.

I have a husband and 3 little boys at home (Jamison, 7 - Caden, 5 - Nash, 2) who keep me insanely busy in the best way possible.
